Kitaro to blend in local music

BUTTERWORTH: Japanese musical legend Kitaro plans to blend local traditional music with his famous drum beats when he performs in Penang next year. 

Kitaro, who is in Penang for a three-day visit, said he was looking forward to returning to Penang and performing here next year. 

“I want to include the local traditional drum beats and music in my performance.   

“In the meantime, I will be doing a lot of listening of the local music while I am here. 

“I will also perform at the Genting Highland Resort in November,” he said after paying a courtesy call on Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon at a hotel here yesterday. 

Kitaro, who arrived in Penang with his eight-member entourage last night, said he was at the Esplanade upon his arrival to celebrate the 50th Merdeka celebrations. 

He said he was impressed with the friendliness of Penangites and the food that he had savoured so far. 

“I like Penang’s spicy food and I will try to taste the local fare as much as possible when I am here,” he said.   

Kitaro, who has cut 35 albums to date, said he also plays the guitar, synthesizer and drums, adding that he would release his new album Secret Journey of Kukai in the United States on Sept 25 and in Japan a month later. 

He said he expected Crystal Wind from the new album to be a hit. 

He said he had been performing around the world for the past 30 years ago, adding that he is now a US permanent resident residing in San Francisco. 

“I fly to Japan twice yearly to meet my family in Nagoya.”   

Kitaro, who is accompanied by his wife Keiko Matsubara, will witness a Malay wedding today and tour Penang island before he flies back to the United States on Sunday.

Youth dies after assault

PENANG: A 24-year-old youth died after he was involved in a fight between two groups of people at Pekaka Square, Sungai Dua here. 

Mohd Anwar Harun, 24, died on the way to Penang Hospital at 4.3am yesterday.   

His elder brother, who did not want to be named, said Mohd An-war called him at 4am to inform that he was assaulted by a group of people. 

“I rushed to the scene and saw my brother surrounded by five people,” he told reporters when met at Penang Hospital here yesterday. 

He claimed another group of six people then assaulted him with sticks and iron rods. He sustained injuries to his hand and received five stitches on his head following the clash. 

It is learnt that a 31-year-old man, who was seriously injured in the incident, has been admitted to the hospital. 

State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Koh Hong Sun said the po-lice had detained seven suspects over the incident.   

“Initial investigation showed that it is due to misunderstanding between two groups of people,” he said.   

He said another clash happened at Mutiara Heights in Jelutong about one hour later. 

He said two teenagers, aged 18 and 19, suffered minor injuries in the fight.

Mom awoke me up. Told me that my brother in law’s friend died, killed by a group of *******. I rather not to take it as racism matter [you knew it if you watched news last night]. At first she wanted me to take her to the bus station but then my bro in law gave me a hand to drive her there together with his friend to company him. Yeah, it was unsafe if I went alone though. I stretched a little and jumped onto my bed again =)

Daddy knocked my door told me mom kept calling me. Answered the call and she was half way back and wanted me to wait for her. Yeah, I drove there in hurry. No shower and I just wore what I wear for sleep haha! On the way home we bought some chicken rice, yeah old place which happen to be my favorite =)

I could not sleep anymore. After lunch I was just waste my time on computer and read news online. Forums were boring, nothing much they talked about just about that bloody Teves.

Around 5pm we went to the hospital to visit my sister and my niece. Unfortunately, still couldn’t see my niece but my sister was in good condition and happy. She was discharged but not the baby.

We went for dinner at Rosram. I ate chicken chop and satay. Yummy! Hehehe =) Daddy was with us after for so long he didn’t join us. I was happy and the treat was on me.

Police cars still in and out of the area and I still feel unsafe. Sigh. I wonder what’s the meaning of Merdeka when we are still live in frighten?

Today I was still tired. Yesterday, I fell asleep after my dinner; without shower and change clothes. Just me and the boxer =P

I was late to work. As soon as I reached office I had to help mates arranged tables and chairs for a meeting today. I hate works like that, yea… sweating and it was just beginning of the day. Darn!

Right after the hard work, we began to play around a little bit. We just snapped some pictures to show how proud we are being Malaysian =)

Then after finish work, I went to hospital visited sister but couldn’t see my niece. I missed both of them so much. Only parent were allowed to see the baby. She still got jaundice and I hope she will be fine soon.

Everybody going out for count down, but I choose to stay home, write blog and resting. I hate bad traffic =(

Lastly, Happy Merdeka Day =)

My sister is getting better. Maybe she can go out tomorrow depend on her condition. The baby kept crying today. I was totally tired but smiled to see the little cute one and sister is better than yesterday. Nothing much was on my mind just thought about thing I wan to buy for cute one.

Everybody was happy and kept joking with each other. She got hamper from a friend and I took it home. Did I look like a father? Rofl.

Raining in the evening and we went for dinner at Rosram. I was tired and no appetite. Just ate some noodles and egg with apple juice. I ate some satay too.

I was happy even though it was a hard day at the office =)

Today I was happy that finally someone could call me uncle. My sister delivered a baby girl safely. She was cute and my sister was still suffered from the scissor-operation and pain. But she was happy which brought a smile on my face. I was worry about her. She was very worry about the operation and kept crying at the beginning. I wanted to snap picture of her and the baby but I just couldn’t. Too many nurse around and obviously they didn’t want to see any cell around. Do not worry; I will update some pictures very soon. I’m so happy =)

After draw and lose game, I got insulted by colleagues and mates. Yeah, we lose and draw for this season. So did they do insult me again when Manchester United seem like will draw again. Smsed and called me non-stop. Pathetic!

I was half asleep but my eyes were wide opened right after Nani scored! Haha then sms and call stopped they didn’t reply any of my sms anymore =)

Lucky them I’m on leave today… so no game report via LAN email =P

Woke up at 8am [kinda early for Saturday morning hehe] and as usual… spent my morning in front of pc. Nothing much, just checked mails and replied messages & comment on friendster. Showered and breakfast at 11am and went out.

Fetched two friends at air itam [takdir & firdaus] an d started journey. We group at Sungai Dua toll and moved together in a group to the chalet. Reached there around 1pm and the boat will come to us around 3pm. I hate waiting… and we just went to the coffee shop nearby and chatting.

3pm, we went to the chalet by boat. Reached there and immediately getting ready for fishing. It was hot [that was why I got the sunburn hehe]. It was full of laugh and jokes all day long. Some did the catch, but some didn’t but we still happy and forgot all the stress at office including me. I got some fish.Trust me I wasn’t good at it but I was the lucky one!

Night time, everybody still fished and hoped that we will get more fish. Those who felt bored did prepare dinner. Of course I did help even though I’m not that good hehe. Around 10 or 11pm, it rained heavily and the strong lightning stroke which caused blackout. We stopped for a while and some started playing cards. Me? I couldn’t do anything in the dark, so I jumped onto bed and took a nap. I wont join them gambling, to me it’s totally a waste. Of course it’s still individual perspective.

I woke up around 2am and the rain still heavy and I knew I won’t get a fish if I fish at that time. Continue sleeping hehe. Woke up around 4am and yeah… I got Ikan Duri as my fish of the 2^nd day. Everybody started to fish again but not many fish as the day before.

At 10am everybody getting ready to go home and divided fish fairly. Yeah, some of us not even get a fish hehe. I won the cup =P We ate breakfast around 11am right after everybody finished shower and the boat came to use around 12pm.

I reached home and uploaded pictures even though I was totally haggard. I had fun =)

21.07.2007 was my busiest day. I went fishing with my colleague until 10pm and went to club around 12 with my colleague too (not the same ones who went fishing). I caught two fish. It rained heavily but we still managed to made barbeque hehe. They brought few types of baits and I think the one suit me was the prawn. No blood and it was dead =P. the club party was awesome but the result from it, I got a bad hang over today. I really hate it but at least I am back to normal, not to sit in front of pc whole day. I will start my new hobby as before, reading. I still spend some times on pc but not that much. Pc is my life yes but life is short, I should enjoy it rather than stuck in front of pc.

Today I had fun. Went out with Fazil and Johan to Red Box and we sang for 3 hours (karaoke of course). We walked around Gurney Plaza and G Hotel. We had dinner at Pak Hussin together. It was a fun weekend since years ago I’ve been sitting in front of computer. Life is incomplete without friends =)

P/s: I’ve watched Transformers and Die Hard 4.0 in 2 weeks. Awesome! Rofl.
